The Wayne Golf Course – open space or more houses? Update – funding has been secured!

The Wayne Golf Course in Bothell is for sale. The City of Bothell had the opportunity to purchase a portion of it but declined. Now a local group, OneBothell, is working to preserve the land. Potential benefits include open space for recreation, salmon recovery, and water quality. It is immediately adjacent to Blythe Park in Bothell, as well as the Burke-Gilman Trail.ย OneBothell has the support of State Senator Rosemary McAuliffe, King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski, the WRIA8 Salmon Recovery Council, the Sno-King Watershed Council, and many others. Go to the OneBothell site and find out how you can take actionย here.

Update – the State Legislature passed a budget allocating $1 million to fund purchase of golf course land. More funding remains to be raised, but this is a giant step and it looks like the land will be preserved.
